Ádjit (1262), Storfjord municipality.

Ádjit as seen from Skibotndalen. The route to point 1262 follows the left hand skyline.

Ádjit is a Sami name meaning The Fathers. This is a route description to the northernmost and easiest Father, point 1262. There are also five other Fathers along the edge to the southeast, but these are more difficult to climb and often require climbing equipment.

A route description from TellTur.no

Starting point

Follow the E6 through the center of Skibotn. Parking at Skibotnhallen (marked with a sign). Follow the footpath and cycle path southwards (towards Olderelv camping) approx. 1 km to the starting point for the hiking trail (follow the signs from the car park). The starting point is marked with a sign.

Trail description

The route follows the path via the trim post boxes at Hengen and Sledo. The first part of the route follows a clear path. When you get to the trim mailbox at Sledo, turn right and follow a path for a short distance before turning off the path to the left and follow the red markings towards the top. Ádjit is the closest mountain you see straight ahead and to the right on the way up. Follow the valley up and a bit towards the back of the mountain, where it is easiest to get up. Once you're up, you have to follow the ridge for approximately 800 m to the southeast before you get to the cairn.

Total length: 16 km.
